Due to winter weather predicted to impact the area on Wednesday, February 1, the City of Arkadelphia’s Black History Month Celebration will now be held Monday, February 6 at 10:00 a.m. in the Town Hall Atrium.
The city’s recognition ceremony of its 12 Black History Month honorees was scheduled for the first of the month, but inclement weather led city officials to postpone the event to a later date.
“Out of an abundance of caution, we made the difficult decision to reschedule our Black History Month Celebration,” City Manager Gary Brinkley said.
“We cannot wait to recognize and celebrate our inaugural class of honorees, but the safety of our residents is our top priority. We look forward to celebrating this historic event in our community with our honorees, their families and our residents on February 6.”
City officials will be streaming the event live on the City of Arkadelphia’s Facebook page for those unable to attend.
