The City of Arkadelphia is excited to announce plans for its second annual Cinco de Mayo celebration.

The May 5 holiday falls on a Friday this year and event coordinators have hired a high-energy, authentic Latin band to provide entertainment for the four-hour event.

SSG Latin Band from Northwest Arkansas will be performing at the city’s Cinco de Mayo celebration.

The band performed at the city’s first Cinco de Mayo celebration. SSG Latin Band is known for creating fun, energetic environments that encourage everyone to get on the dance floor.

“SSG really set the tone of last year’s event,” Brinkley said. “They did a phenomenal job and we can’t wait to welcome them back.”

Traditional Mexican dishes like tacos and quesadillas will be available to purchase, but coordinators also sought out non-traditional trucks like Ceci’s Chicken & Waffles and The Boil to ensure every attendee can get something they want to eat.

“We wanted to keep the focus on Latin American flavors, but make it diverse enough that our residents can get something they really enjoy,” Brinkley said.

67 Grill is the official beverage sponsor of the Cinco de Mayo celebration. Their beverage menu includes a variety of beer, wine and margaritas.

Sponsors for this year’s event include Fairfield Inn & Suites, Diamond Lakes Regional Visitor Center, 67 Grill, Shuffield Music and The Arkadelphian.

The Cinco de Mayo celebration will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the Town Square lot.
