The City of Arkadelphia is celebrating “spooky season” like never before. City officials are excited to announce a series of four (4) free fall-themed events set for October 27 – 31.
HALLOWEEN MOVIE NIGHT
The city’s Halloweekend celebration will begin with a Halloween Movie Night on Friday, October 27. Hosted inside the Recreation Center, city officials will be showing Disney’s “Halloweentown” at 7:00 p.m.
“The city has been hosting outdoor movies for a few years now and they’ve been great. However, there’s only so much you can do when you’re battling the heat and mosquitoes,” Special Events Manager Halle Posey said. “Halloweentown will be the first movie we show inside the Rec Center. Residents will have easier access to the concessions stand and restrooms, and not have to worry about bringing their buy spray.”
Residents are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets inside the Recreation Center for the Halloween Movie Night. Parking will be in the Recreation Center parking lot.
FALL FEST
On Saturday, October 28, families are invited to Feaster Park for the city’s first Fall Fest celebration. Starting at 11:00 a.m., area residents can enjoy hayrides on Feaster Trail, food trucks, pumpkin painting, fall games and more.
“Our goal is to create the classic family fall festival,” Posey said. “There will be food, fun, pumpkins, hayrides – What more could you ask for?”
Fall Fest will conclude at 2:00 p.m. Area residents are asked to park in the Recreation Center parking lot via the 26th Street entrance. No through traffic will be allowed past 23rd Street
HAUNTED HAYRIDE
It wouldn’t be spooky season without a jump scare! The City of Arkadelphia will be hosting its first Haunted Hayride on Feaster Trail Saturday, October 28 from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m.
The quarter-mile hayride will begin and end in the Recreation Center parking lot. All attendees must sign a waiver prior to boarding the hayride.
“Safety is our top priority when it comes to this event,” Posey said. “We’re going to have both Arkadelphia Police and Fire in attendance, and will have staff riding with each group to ensure the safety of our volunteers and attendees.”
The City of Arkadelphia is looking for volunteers to work the Haunted Hayride.
“Whether you need service hours or you just want to do something fun, all are welcome to participate in the Haunted Hayride,” Posey said.
Those interested in volunteering at the Haunted Hayride should contact Posey at halle.posey@arkadelphia.gov.
MAIN STREET TRICK-OR-TREAT
Halloweekend will conclude with an Arkadelphia classic: Main Street Trick or Treat!
On Tuesday, October 31 – also known as Halloween day – Residents are invited to bring their children to downtown Arkadelphia for a trick-or-treating extravaganza. Hosted by the City of Arkadelphia and the Arkadelphia Alliance and Area Chamber of Commerce, children will have the opportunity to receive candy and prizes from over 30 local businesses and organizations.
“Main Street Trick or Treat is the perfect way to round out our Halloweekend activities,” Posey said. “Put on your best costume and join us for a night of trick-or-treating fun in downtown Arkadelphia!”
The Main Street Trick or Treat will be held from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in the Town Square lot. Registration for Main Street Trick or Treat is still open! Click here to register your business or organization for the event.
