Movies In The Park are a great way to spend a summer night in Arkadelphia, but coming soon, it will also serve as opportunity to give back to those in need.

Starting Monday, July 18, Parks and Recreation will host a week-long fundraiser benefitting the Humane Society of Clark County, Arkadelphia. The fundraiser will end Friday night with the showing of the 2022 film, “Dog.”

Acceptable donation items include: Dog food, cat food, treats, kitty litter and pet toys. Financial donations can also be made in the form of cash or check.

Donations to the Humane Society can be dropped off at the Recreation Center the week of July 18. Donations will also be accepted at the concession stand while the movie is being shown.

Starring Channing Tatum, “Dog” is a story about a former U.S. Army Ranger tasked with transporting a military dog with an aggressive history to its handler’s funeral. The cross-country journey is filled with many twists and turns, allowing Tatum’s character and the dog, Lulu, to form an unbreakable bond. The film leaves viewers wondering, “Who rescued who?” and highlights the impact rescue dogs can have on one’s life.

Showtime is set for 8:30 p.m. Attendees will also be eligible to receive a free small shaved iced from Goofy Greg’s, courtesy of Suddenlink.
