The City of Arkadelphia’s Parks and Recreation department is creating more fitness opportunities for area residents. The department recently installed new fitness equipment in the Recreation Center, and announced Zumba classes will be starting next month.
The Recreation Center’s new fitness area is small but mighty, complete with new resistance machines, free weights and cardio equipment.
“We designed this space so that anyone, at any fitness level, can walk in and get a full body workout,” Parks and Recreation Director Junior Rodemeyer said.\
In addition to the new fitness area, Zumba classes will now be offered at the Recreation Center.
Starting May 2, Zumba + Mixed Fit classes will be held Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room. The class will be led by coach Kristi Thompson. Recreation Center members will be able to take the class for free, where non-members will have to pay a $5 per class fee.
“Zumba is something we’ve been working on for a while now,” Rodemeyer said. “It’s a fun workout a lot of people enjoy, and Kristi is a phenomenal instructor. We’re excited to have her on the team.”
The new fitness area and fitness class are part of the department’s mission to provide residents with affordable recreational opportunities.
